This week starts with the finish of my goal race and should be the first week of the off season, I think. I keep eyeing another half marathon that is scheduled the first week of November. I am already at the distance and have some drills given to me that will help increase my speed between now and then. The question that keeps floating around in my head is just how much faster can I get by then? I am sure I could get the sub 3 hours that I wanted and should of had for this race, but how far under can I get? Can I cut 30 minutes off my time by then? It will be alot cooler out in November, how much does that effect the time? Overheating has been a huge issue this summer. With this race up in the air I am going to cut back my long runs to 8 miles and see if I can rebuild stronger. If the race sells out before I decide if I am going to do it or not, then it was not meant to be.
My only two workouts so far this week was a recovery run because I was so tight after the half that I had to do something and I worked out with Shannon on Wednesday before my doctors appointment. She gave me another awesome weight circuit and we got most of the workout plan on paper. Now I just need to tweak it to fit into my present schedule.
Finally got to the Podiatrist so I could get my toe fixed, and she went above and beyond by removing the whole toenail. That puts me out of commission till the end of the week.
Dying to get out for a bike ride. It has been over two weeks since my last ride. WAY TOO LONG! Not going to get any better with hit and miss training like that. If I can get my toe into my riding shoes Friday morning I am going to ride at the swamp. Have already warned my better half that I will be gone Sunday morning for the group ride, not sure what pace group I am going to join. Will just have to wait and see.
My diet took a big dump this week. There was a post race celebratory dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant with lots of chips, salsa, guacamole, and soft shell tacos. There was some coldstone ice cream, and I caved to the pressure to eat some Pizza Hut last night with the family. I think I have covered most of the craving I have and will be back to square A-1 come next week.
