I have been looking forward to this off season since early July. That was when I was having some stomach issues and had to dial back the training intensity. I knew then that more than likely I was going to finish the half marathon(and did), but would not be close to my time goal. I have spent some time and came up with a list of expectations for this off season to improve on the foundation that was set this year. Kind of a wish list to give my team so that we are all one the same page when setting up my training plan. Some of these are going to be on the easy side or a side effect of the training in general, but most is going to require months of dedication, motivation, and resolve to get anywhere close to achieving.
The List
- Interval running will no longer be a crutch. I will be able to run a complete half marathon from start to finish.
- 2013 Shamrock half marathon will be completed with an average pace of 7-9 minutes per mile. (Quite a jump down from the 14:07 average from the rock n roll half I just finished.)
- Have the stamina to complete a sprint triathlon by end of this year.
- Have the stamina to complete an Olympic distance triathlon by Mar. 1, 2013.
- Have my weight under 220 by Feb 1, 2013
- More muscular definition of entire upper body, including start of six pack abs by start of 2013 triathlon season.
- Join, train, and compete with the Fat Frogs Tri Team.
- Complete a half Ironman Triathlon!
I am sure there are several smaller goals that I have forgotten to add and I am not adding any type of a time goal for the triathlons till I get some more training under my belt. That way I can see what is attainable.
Solid, challenging, but achieveable goals, good luck
