I am pretty sure I left off right after I completed my longest run to date.
Layed low the rest of the day as my energy was pretty low. Friday morning I was
quite sore and attempted to take the easy road. Posted on Facebook that I was
sore and was taking the day off. My trainer saw the post and instantly replied
with the reality of taking that route. I am not trying to just lose a few pounds
and pretend to get into shape. My goal of a half Ironman means I have to become
proficient in three different sports and then have to have the stamina
to perform one after another. That said, unscheduled off days are few and far
between. That as along as my children don't need me, I don't have a fever, and
I am still alive then I need to train when it is scheduled. What she said made
perfect sense, and being my partner/coach in this journey she did exactly what I
needed her too. I was just taking the lazy way out. So I got the kids ready
and off to the gym for a round of circuits. Legs actually loosened up for the
last half of the circuit.
Sunday was my next workout, a scheduled group ride with the crew from a
L.B.S. First group ride last Sunday was not the greatest so I really wanted a
good showing. Could not believe my eyes when I saw all the people there. All I
wanted to do this round was last the entire 21 miles without wrecking, not too
much to ask for. So I jumped in with the "B" pace group of 17 people. With that
many people there was not a lot of time to pull, something that I really enjoy
doing. Had a pretty good sprint once we got into the neighborhood and actually
finished feeling like I could have done 20 more, and best of all I stayed
upright the whole time. If the group is that big next time I am going to go
with the "B+" pace group and just not pull, I think I might be able to hang on
for the entire ride. Love riding with this group because I meet new people every
time I am there, and it is awesome to spend time with people who enjoy what I
enjoy and are willing to assist me with information they have learned along
their journey.
Ended up with 54 miles total for this week, including my first run at half
marathon distance, which is awesome! This week also ends the 7th month of my
training with a total of 83 pounds lost, pretty happy with that too. Next week
is a full training week and then I start tapering my mileage for my half
marathon.
